Grandpa lived the rest of his life in Canada and established his roots and his family in Vancouver.

We are now all proud multi-generational Canadians ...and Canada is truly our "lao Jia", the fond Chinese language description of our "old home".

Yup ...

Like our government keeps reminding all of us:
Canada
Yours and Mine!

So we bettter take good care of our Nation!

My nephew says we should all be given FREE Lifetime train ride passes for the efforts of our ancestors

a Westcoast Canadian family …

Our extended family clan, although small in number, has been a witness, and at times, a part of the building of the young nation of Canada:
  • First Chinese person to be born in the beautiful mountain city of Nelson, B.C.
  • B.C.'s first Chinese Canadian Notary Public.
  • Canada's first Chinese Canadian Judge (British Columbia Supreme Court, 1970).
  • Helped facilitate and pioneer Asian Banking in Canada during the mid-1960’s and on through the 1980’s.
  • Founded the 4th World Convention Chinese Entrepreneurs Society of Canada (WCEC 1997), with Prime Minister Jean Chretien as guest of honour.
  • Family effort, vision and contribution to the founding and realization of the Vancouver Chinese Cultural Centre (CCC) (1973).
  • Helped co-found and organize North America's first Dragon boat races. The Vancouver Dragon Boat race is now recognized as the continent's most successful, and is now into it's second decade.
  • Founding members for various Chinese Canadian organizations and community efforts, including:
    • SPOTA (Strathcona Property Owners’ and Tenants’ Association)
thereby saving much of the heritage of today’s Chinatown and it’s adjoining turn-of-the century residential neighbourhood Strathcona
    • CCLS - Chinese Community Library Services
    • Pender Guy (English language Chinese Canadian Radio)
    • DSYSG - the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Chinese Classical Garden
    • CCHS - Chinese Canadian Historical Society
    • RicePaper - the magazine about Creative Asian-Canadians
