There are many families (genus) of meat eating plants in Canada and the United States. From the flypaper butterworts (Pinguicula), sticky "octopus" tentacled sundews (Drosera), tube shaped pitcher plants (Sarracenia and Darlingtonia), to my favourite... the amazing Flytrap (Dionaea). I love capturing these beasts out in the wild with my camera. And best of all, they grow and thrive here on the Westcoast of Canada (we get fairly mild winters out here on the Island...and wait until I tell you about the Killer Whales). My favourites are the pitcher plants and the flytraps. I enjoy them all, it's just that it's more fun to grow those beauties who require minimal care and attention from a tired old guy like me.
I'm scanning piles more images from my slides... |
